Founded in 1997 by Matt Camblin & William Gibson, Bellanet.com started out much like it is today. A small ColdFusion web hosting and development company run by ColdFusion developers for ColdFusion developers. Our niche has always been supporting the ColdFusion scripting language and supporting other developers that write in ColdFusion. ColdFusion is more than a scripting language or server application, it's quite simply the "Windows" of web based scripting languages. Just as Linux is free and open sourced so are competing scripting languages, PHP or ASP for instance. We do support both ASP & PHP for our customers who come to us unconverted from the world of "free is good". There's a reason Windows is on every desktop in the world, and there's a reason the operating system is not open sourced or free. Quite simply it's the best at what it does, and what it does cost a lot of money to develop and to support. The same is true for any software that has been on the market as long as either Windows or ColdFusion. Bellanet.com has supported ColdFusion since Version 4 in 1997 and in 2016 there is still nothing availble that does what ColdFusion does as well and as securely as ColdFusion does.
During the first few years we took over managing our servers and network in house. After a few outages due to the facilites we had been co-locating our servers in, we made the desision to bring this task under our control to give our customers the level of service we expected. Rule 1. the network and servers MUST always be available to internet traffic. Rule 2. In the event of a problem, refer to Rule 1. It's as simple as that, and that's all we expect of our network guys. They have gone to great lengths to insure that our network is fast, secure and most importantly available exactly when you need it, anytime you need it, every time you need it. We run redundant Windows 2012 servers with ColdFusion as well as Ipswitch's iMail mail servers, FTP servers and our own DNS (bingo.bellanet.com and bongo.bellanet.com) servers. All of this availble over a fiber optic 150Mb internet connection for lightning fast responses times. For more info regarding our web hosting see the Web Hosting page...
We strive never say no to our clients, and that has taken us in interesting directions over the last 20+ years. Several years ago we where approached by local builder and asked to provide a client of theirs with some CAD work. Interested to see what had changed in the CAD arena since we visited it last, we agreed and found the work to be quite enjoyable and our software developers had a lot of fun with it. Being the creative type, they have taken 2D CAD work of blueprint layout and borrowed from the video game industry to create realistic 3D Models and photo realistic images to give clients a way of invisioning a future home like never before.
